This field includes variety of treatments that change the way your teeth appear, giving you a presentable and wholesome smile. Aesthetic Dentistry offers a variety of specialties to choose from which the patients can decide based on their budget and time.
Aesthetic Dentistry – Cases and Solutions
Case 01 - Smile designed for 25 year old female
Diagnosis: A 25 year old adult female had earlier been advised to extract all her front teeth and wear a denture. The teeth in her posterior region had already been extracted earlier; hence she did not want to lose her front teeth as well. Her position was highly compromised.
Treatment: 1) Root Canal done in her 5 front teeth. 2) Teeth then prepared for joined ceramic crowns. 3) Removable partial dentures made for upper and lower posterior regions (due to budget constraints). 4) End result – a more beautiful and pleasant smile.
Case 02 – Complete smile makeover
Diagnosis: A young lady wanted to change her smile as only her front teeth were visible when she smiled;giving a perception that she had no other teeth.
Treatment: A more beautiful and fuller smile, exposing a wider line of her teeth.
Case 03 – A young man wanted a better smile
Diagnosis: A young man wanted to change his smile as he was unhappy with his uneven teeth.
Treatment: A week long treatment leading to a highly satisfied patient who was extremely happy with his new smile.
Bleaching / Tooth Whitening
This treatment is specifically for those whose teeth are stained or discoloured. It can either be in office as well as at home.
A bleaching solution is applied by the dentist in the dental clinic under strict supervision. A gel in a tray that fits over the teeth is used in the at-home bleaching under a dentist’s supervision.
Home Bleaching: Teeth whitening can be done at home too with disposable bleaching trays, repeated for up to 4 days (20 minutes a day). The results almost match the in-office bleaching process.
Conscious sedation facilitates an altered level of consciousness through the administration of certain medications that allows patients to respond to physical stimulation and verbal commands along with maintaining an unassisted airway.
This procedure is helpful mostly in anxious/mentally challenged patients, uncooperative children and multiple extractions. Conscious sedation produces a state of relaxation and/or pain relief by using benzodiazepine-type and narcotic medications. Its advantages includes:
Dr. Narendra Garach, Chief Anesthetist at Asia Heart Hospital and a specialist in this procedure has been with us for the past 15 years.
Pediatric Dentistry is the dental specialty focusing on treatment of children’s teeth. The following are the most common problems that affect children’s teeth.
Nursing Bottle Caries: Also known as Baby Bottle Tooth Decay, Nursing Caries is caused in children sleeping with bottles filled with milk or juice (anything except water) in their mouth. Breastfed infants who fall asleep while breastfeeding are also at risk. Early dental visit for your child can cure the disease permanently.
Thumb Sucking: Prolonged thumb sucking in children may cause problems with the proper growth and development of the child’s mouth along with “open bites” that require extensive orthodontic treatment to straighten out. It may also make the front teeth protrude, making them more susceptible to injury. If your child doesn’t stop this habit after all your efforts, we can help you with our Habit BreakingAppliance.
Tongue Thrusting: The habit of sealing the mouth for swallowing by thrusting the top of the tongue forward against the lips can also cause protrusion of front teeth, overbite and interference in proper speech development. A Habit Breaking Appliance can be helpful in this case.
Lip Sucking: This involves repeatedly holding the lower lip beneath the upper front teeth. The ill effects are similar to thumb sucking and tongue thrusting and can be treated by the same procedure.
Crowns and Bridges
Crowns: Crownsare used to whiten, reshape or realign existing teeth to provide a healthy and attractive smile. These are custom made caps that cover entire tooth to protect it from forces of biting and chewing. Generally these caps are made of all ceramic, ceramic fused to metal or full metal. They can also be custom shaded to match adjacent teeth for a realistic appearance. This procedure usually takes 2 visits.
Bridges: A dental restoration is used to connect two natural teeth, spanning an area that has no teeth.
Dentures are false teeth that replace your lost teeth. Depending upon the requirement, dentures can be both complete and partial. Complete dentures cover the entire upper and/or entire lower jaw while partial dentures replace only the few missing teeth.
Dentures today are more natural looking and comfortable, helping the patients to adjust much quicker.
Complete dentures are made of different materials depending on the patient’s conditions and preferences:
Partial Dentures are classified into:
Dental Restorations (Fillings)
Dental restorations/fillings are used to restore the function, integrity and morphology of missing tooth structure. Variety of dental cement materials are used to improve the aesthetics or the physical integrity of the teeth.
Materials used are:

Endodontics (Root Canal Treatment)
The tooth’s pulp, located in its center, consists of connective tissues, nerves and blood vessels which nourishes the tooth when it first erupts. It can be removed in the below mentioned cases after the tooth matures.
With new age Rotatory Endodontics, we’re now capable of treating root canal on the same day depending on the amount of infection, in which case 2-3 sittings might be required.
Implantology (Dental Implants)
If you’ve lost a tooth or some teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury or any other reasons; you can go for dental implants. In this, an artificial tooth root is placed into the jaw. Dental implants are highly natural looking and feeling, giving an impression that no tooth was lost.
Advantages of Dental Implants:

Laminates and Veeners
Porcelain laminates/veneers are one of the best options to rectify the appearance of stained, badly shaped and crooked teeth. These thin shells of ceramic bonds directly to the front and top surfaces of the teeth and are durable for over a decade, virtually going undetected.
